How to Search for a Menominee County Warrant
Menominee County has no roster that covers every court. A warrant check runs through the case index, the clerk who holds the file, and the Sheriff's Office when custody enters the picture. Begin where the case began. Keep a legal name, birth year, and any case number ready, and treat each hit as a lead.
- Search MiCOURT Case Search by name, or by case number from a notice.
- Narrow by court and case type, since the courts are indexed separately.
- Call the 95A District Court clerk about a district file, a failure to appear, or a default.
- Call the County Clerk at the 41st Circuit Court about a felony, a family matter, or a protection order.
- Call the Sheriff's Office about service, custody, or bond, then talk to an attorney.
The 95A District Court page lists who answers its phones.
It names the Menominee County office that holds the file, and that office is the one to call for current status.
Searching MiCOURT by Name or Case Number
MiCOURT is Michigan's public case index, and the state publishes a case-search reference matching the visible panels. A name search needs a last name or business name. A birth year helps with common surnames. Case searches want the year, number, and type exactly as the court wrote them. The index is free and needs no account. It is incomplete, though: some case types never display, and some courts limit how far back criminal results reach, so a blank result does not prove Menominee County has no case.
Note: a name search matches the spelling you type, so try the name variants shown on the court notice.
Menominee County Warrant Search Fields
The panel asks for fewer fields than most people expect. Nothing requests a warrant number, because the Menominee County index tracks cases rather than warrants.
| Field Label | Type | Required | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Last Name or Business | Text | Yes | Required for a name search. |
| First Name | Text | No | Narrows a common last name. |
| Birth Year | Numeric | No | Year only. |
| Case Year | Numeric | Yes, for a case search | Four digits. |
| Case Number | Text | Yes, for a case search | Exact value from the notice. |
Why the State Ticket Search Skips Menominee County Warrants
Michigan runs a separate Ticket and Case Search. Its county dropdown lists only courts that join that payment interface, and Menominee County is not among them. The state Ticket and Case Search shows the selectors it carries.
Finding no Menominee County option is not a gap in county records; that interface simply serves other courts.
What a Menominee County Warrant Search Returns
A case search returns a case, not a warrant. The panel may show the number, type, status, parties, charges, and next hearing. A warrant event may appear as a docket entry. Or it may not appear at all. A paper warrant carries its own fields under the state rule, and no county warrant-number format is published, so this list is a schema only the issuing court can confirm.
| Warrant and case number | The court case number plus a process identifier, in a year-and-type pattern such as YYYY-######-XX. |
|---|---|
| Subject | A name or a legally sufficient description. |
| Charge or offense | The offense charged, with statute and classification. |
| Issuing court | The 95A District Court, the 41st Circuit Court, or the family division. |
| Bail or bond terms | Cash, surety, personal recognizance, interim bail, or a no-bond hold. |
| Status and return | Active, served, recalled, quashed, or forfeited, with the return date. |
Note: an open case is not an active warrant, so never read a case status as warrant status.
A Search Hit Is Not a Confirmed Menominee County Warrant
Search language and warrant language describe different things. The index reports where a case stands, while only the Menominee County court can say where the warrant stands, because recall and service live in the court file. Know these terms before you call.
- Case status
- Where the case sits in the court's workflow, such as open or closed.
- Active or outstanding
- Meaning the process was not reported as recalled or served.
- Served or returned
- An officer carried out the warrant and filed the result with the court.
- Recalled or quashed
- The issuing court withdrew the process.
Note: ask about warrant status, bond, recall, and the next setting as separate questions.
Where Menominee County Warrants Are Checked
Each Menominee County office holds a different slice. A traffic or ordinance warrant lives with the district court, a felony with the circuit clerk, and custody and bond with the Sheriff.

The county civil-infraction page explains the deadlines behind a ticket default.
A late citation can move from a balance to a default. A default is where court process can start. The county payment interface collects an authorized balance once a Menominee County court sets one.
Paying is not clearing. It satisfies an amount the court ordered.
Tribal and Federal Warrants Sit Outside Menominee County
Not every warrant that reaches Menominee County was issued there. Tribal court keeps its own records. A federal charge is issued in federal court rather than the county courts, so a county check will not reliably surface either one. The MSP criminal-history page states that warrant information is not available through that service.
| Question | County Court Route | Outside Route |
|---|---|---|
| Who issued it | The 95A or 41st Circuit Court | Tribal court, another state, or federal court |
| Where to confirm | The issuing county clerk | The issuing jurisdiction or federal clerk |
Access and Restricted Warrants
Michigan opens most court records and closes the rest by statute, court rule, or court order. A search result is a public copy of some fields, never the official record. Only the clerk holds that. Options for acting on a confirmed warrant are gathered in the Menominee County warrant overview.
Key Rules:
Juvenile delinquency files are restricted under Michigan law and open only by court order or for a legitimate interest, so a family search often comes back empty.
Investigative material and sealed process stay out of public view, so an unserved warrant may not appear anywhere public.
An absent result is not clearance. Confirm status with the issuing court before relying on a blank search.
When a Menominee County FOIA Request Answers the Question
When the index and the phones leave a system question open, the county FOIA page is the formal route. Menominee County answers within five business days and may extend that once by ten. An estimate above $50 can require a deposit of half the cost. A narrow request works better. Asking whether a public roster exists and how it is refreshed is a system question. Asking for a named list may be denied or narrowed under the published exemptions. The county request form takes a web submission. The county also accepts mail or in-person requests.
Note: a fee appeal goes to the Chair of the County Board of Commissioners.
